Site Specific Techncial Opinions

The Building Act requires all building work, and therefore all building products, to comply with the ‘performance requirements’ of the New Zealand Building Code.

BEAL provides an independent means of demonstrating compliance of a building product used on a specific site, with each relevant clause of the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC).

This approach to verifying compliance is much less expensive than having a full product appraisal carried out.

For example a client may wish to use a novel building product on their (one) building project, for which there is not already an existing ‘appraisal’ document demonstrating ‘general compliance’ with the relevant clauses of the New Zealand Building Code.

In this situation the product would need to be evaluated for the specific site conditions and materials used in the client’s building project. This is known as a ‘site specific technical opinion’.
