The Building Quality Institute

The Building Quality Institute (BQI) www.bqi.org.nz

An alternative standards development organisation operates in New zealand, called the Building Quality Institute (BQI).
The BQI was established in 2004 to provide a reliable, transparent, self-regulatory approach by manufacturers, installers and certifiers (BCA's) to ensuring that risks to the building (home) owner are negligible. This is achieved through Product Certification or an Appraisal, Installer Accreditation, and Auditor Accreditation employing the use of BQI "Interim Performance Standards".

For a more thorough explanation of the process download the pdf document entitled "A Self Regulatory Model".

The BQI is not a government funded organisation and is independent of the Government, BRANZ, Master Builder or trade organisations.
